Exchange of Key Technologies on Small Watershed Comprehensive Management
Project Summary
Towards the requirements of comprehensive management of flood control, water supply, and aquatic environment for the small watershed in Mekong River countries, this project promoted exchange of experiences and technologies between China and the Mekong River countries in the fields of flood control, water resources allocation, environmental protection, ecological restoration, river landscape, water culture, as well as requirements of small watershed restoration. Joint seminar and field visits to typical restoration projects in China were executed. The project not only enhanced the mutual understanding and cooperation between Lancang-Mekong countries, but also promote dissemination of technologies and products, which conform to the “one belt one road” strategy and the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation Mechanism.

Ⅰ Objectives
Organize the joint seminar and field visits by specialists from China and Mekong River countries. Exchange the technologies and experiences in related fields of small watershed comprehensive management.
Ⅱ main activities
With guidance of the JWG Water of LMC, technical exchange seminar and joint field visits on integrated small watershed management between China and Mekong River Countries were organized. The activities include:
(1) A technical exchange seminar on integrated small watershed management was held in Beijing, August, 12-13, 2018. Over 60 experts (in which 24 experts from 5 Mekong River countries) participated. 26 presentations were given by the experts, followed by warm and full discussion.
(2) Joint field visits to typical restoration projects in Beijing and Zhejiang took place from August 14 to 18, 2018. The participants visited the Lancang-Mekong Water Resources Cooperation Center (LMWRCC), the Nanjiangou small watershed restoration project in Mentougou District, Beijing. The participants also had a seminar in Wenzhou City of Zhejiang province, understanding the progress and experiences of “five water management”. Field visits was paid to environmental protection projects in the Feiyun River Basin and water sources area of Shanxi Reservoir.
Ⅲ Expected Outcomes/Achieved Results and Prospects
The technical exchange seminar and joint field visits on integrated small watershed management between China and Mekong River Countries were organized. 24 experts from 5 Mekong River countries participated in the activities. Through joint seminar, field visits and technical discussion, this project promoted sharing of technologies and mutual understanding, as well as the dissemination of technologies and products. A summary report was compiled by the organizer. The project successfully executed the first special exchange on small watershed management between China and the Mekong River countries.
