Project Summary 

Ⅰ Objectives 

The purpose of the "Compilation of Guidelines for Water Resources Standard System of Lancang-Mekong Countries " project is to compare and analysis the current situation and demand of water resources standards in Lancang-Mekong countries according to China's water resources technical standard system and related industry standard system, establish the framework of guidelines of national water resources standard system for Lancang-Mekong countries, develop the standard system table covering key professional fields of these countries, propose the list of urgently needed, highly instructive and representative standards. Giwp plans to compile the standard list and specific standards of reservoir dam, irrigation, flood control and other aspects that are generally focused on by the Lancang-Mekong countries from 2020 to 2022, to provide demonstration guidance for a certain project, and carry out standard workshop for personnel of various countries. 

Ⅱ main activities 

In 2020, a general framework of national water resources standard system for Lancang-Mekong Countries will be established, standards system table for major fields of concern in various countries will be preliminary developed, a list of standards in the field of reservoir dams of common concern to Lancang-Mekong Countries will be proposed, the urgent technical standards such as design code for roller compacted earth rock dam, design specification for asphalt concrete face slab and core wall of earth rock dam will be compiled, personnel training, demonstration and guidance will be carried out. 

From 2021 to 2022, it is planned to continue to improve the framework of standard system guidelines  and the table of standards system in professional fields, and put forward the list of standards in flood control and irrigation fields of common concern of Lancang-Mekong Countries. 

Ⅲ Expected Outcomes/Achieved Results and Prospects 

1. By means of data collection, communication research and field investigation, the technical standards and application status of water resources in Lancang-Mekong Countries are clarified, especially the standards urgently needed or to be filled in the areas of common concern of Lancang-Mekong Countries. 

2. By analogy with the current technical standard system of water resources and hydropower in China, and according to the actual situation of various countries, the framework of national water resources standard system for Lancang-Mekong Countries is jointly formulated. 

3. The list and contents of main standards in the standard system of reservoir and dam are proposed. 

4. Organize and hold technical exchange training courses and visit typical projects. 

5. Carry out project implementation demonstration, and invite participants to participate in the project construction.
