Government officials, renowned experts, scholars, students, and young students from around the Lancang-Mekong member countries have gather in Nanjing for the Lancang-Mekong Water Resources Cooperation Youth Forum.

The theme of the forum,which opened on December 7th, is “Water Governance and Youth Responsibilities in Lancang-Mekong Countries.

Mr. Hao Zhao, director of Lancang-Mekong Water Resources Cooperation Center, addressed the opening ceremony, stressing actively promotion to build the information sharing platform and access to website for hydrology information all year around.

“We endeavor to strengthen information sharing, carry out joint research on flood and drought disaster, offer cutting-edge, high-quality educational and scientific services for young scholars and experts from Lancang-Mekong member countries based on excellent disciplines.”said by Professor Xu Weiya, vice president of Hohai University.

Also joining the forum was professor Chen Zhimin, vice President of Fudan University, who presents his topic on Lancang-Mekong Youth Innovation Competition, focusing on innovation and entrepreneurship, cultural exchange，encourages the youth from the six countries attach great importance to governance and development in the Lancang-Mekong River basin.

16 young representatives from Hohai University, Fudan University, UNDP, NHRI, IWHR, IETCEC, LMC water center etc., shared their own experience and ideas, which cover a wide range of issues, including international situation & world economy, open cooperation,youth innovation, challenge and opportunity.

The Youth forum creates a platform for international cooperation in the field of water governance and youth responsibilities in the field of Lancang-Mekong Water Resources Cooperation, which showcases deep exchange and much progress for youth for the benefit of Lancang-Mekong Water Resources.
