Visiting Manmi Resettlement Village
On April 27, 2021 Diplomats from Mekong countries in China and Chinese representatives visited the Manmi Resettlement Village. Manmi village belongs to mangolong village committee of Jiangbei sub district office, Jinghong City, Xishuangbanna, Yunnan Province, and belongs to mountainous terrain. It is located on the left bank of the upstream of Jinghong Hydropower plant in Jiangtou, Jinghong City. It is a nearby resettlement village for inundation impact of the construction of Jinghong Hydropower plant. It settled along the Lancang River and is about 21 km away from Jinghong City. Manmi people believe in Theravada Buddhism and call themselves "Hamin" (khmer). It is said that they are descendants of Khmer people in Cambodia, and their living customs are similar to those of Dai people. As part of the 14th five year plan of Jinghong, Manmi village is becoming a beautiful scenic spot on the Lancang River.
