Visiting Two Stations and One Park
On April 27, 2021 Diplomats from Mekong countries in China and Chinese representatives visited the Two Stations and One Park (rare animal rescue station, fish reproduction station and rare botanic garden). The Two Stations and One Park has been identified as a biodiversity conservation education base in Yunnan Province. The rare animal rescue station was put into operation in April 2010. It is the first animal rescue station invested and constructed by an enterprise in China. It mainly protects and rescues injured animals, animal cubs and eggs in the reservoir area during the period of reservoir clearing and impoundment. The collection, rescue, temporary care and release of rare animals have been extended to the whole territory of Pu'er City. The fish reproduction station was put into operation in April 2010. It mainly protects the rare and endemic fish in the middle and lower reaches of Lancang River by means of wild parent fishing, domestication, artificial propagation (hatching), seedling cultivation and release. For the first time in the world, the giant catfish has been successfully propagated, and other species like Wallago attu, T.douronensis, Platytropius sinensis are also artificially propagated. The rare plant protection park was constructed in two phases. The first phase was started in July 2008, and the second phase was started in June 2009. It mainly carried out ex situ protection of 11 national key protected plants and other precious flora species, such as Cycas balansae and Cycas pectinata Griff, Paramichelia baillonii and Fagopyrum dibotrys that distributed in the hub area and reservoir inundation area. The efficient operation of Two Stations and One Park for many years has played a positive role in the protection of ecological diversity in Pu'er City and even Yunnan Province, and the genes of rare plants have been effectively protected and continued.
