The Mekong-Lancang Cooperation is a river’s family for regional development. Lancang-Mekong River Basin faces escalating difficulties from flooding and drought, both of which are becoming more frequent and intense because of climate change.

We recognized China has always tried to regulate the Lancang River reservoirs to ensure downstream water demand during both dry seasons and floods.

Myanmar has always positive attitude to join the China-promoted the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation (LMC) mechanism. Myanmar attaches more importance to the LMC "special fund projects," which are mainly targeted at projects urgently needed in the development of the six countries within the LMC.

Next, Myanmar appreciates and thankful to the Ministry of Water Resources of China for launching and operation of Lancang-Mekong Water Resources Cooperation Information Sharing Platform Website on 30th November 2020. It is a part of China's effort to help Mekong River countries address the challenges of climate change. Regarding with the website, we have shared the website information and address to water related agencies in Myanmar as soon as we had received the the letter from head of Chinese JWG in December, 2020.

Regarding with the hydrological Information, we’d like to continue to receive the hydrological data through email regularly. hydrological data on the river will greatly support the areas from the flood season for the whole year. We appreciate China as a responsible upstream neighbor for that.

Myanmar is actively participating in the water resources cooperation activities together with other MLC member countries and will participate more in our capacity for the future cooperation. The Meeting will bring a great benefit to all LMC members. The great progress that’s what we called, it is LMC speed, LMC model and LMC cooperation.
