Brief Introduction of Master Program for Youth Talent on Lancang-Mekong Water Resources Cooperation

Hohai University collaborated with the Lancang-Mekong Water Resources Cooperation Center has jointly implemented the Master Program for Lancang-Mekong Water Resources Talent (LMC Master Program) with the support of the Silk Road Scholarship of the Chinese Government since 2017. In 2019, the LMC Program was awarded as an outstanding program of the Silk Road Scholarship of the Chinese Government by the Chinese Ministry of Education, which is exempt from the application and evaluation. In recent years, the program has attracted attention from all parties in the Lancang-Mekong countries and become a highlight of the Lancang-Mekong Water Resources Cooperation.

The LMC Master Program forms a new pattern of international talents training with close cooperation among universities, governments and enterprises, to train the youth talents for the Lancang-Mekong Water Resources Cooperation as its goal, definitely adopting "integrated development, assimilation cultivation, standardized management" as the main mode; it establishes the cooperation platform of "university + government (domestic and overseas)+ enterprise (domestic and overseas)", the supporting platform of the dual quality system of "student quality + cultivation quality" and the platform to promote the four educational modules of "China's conditions education + Lancang-Mekong characteristic education + professional theory education + practical training education"; and it has realized the education concept of shaping international students’ comprehensive quality of "devotion+ perspective + knowledge + ability". Since 2017, 109 postgraduate students from the Mekong countries have been rewarded to acquire master's degree at Hohai University, of which 27 have graduated. In addition 200 international students have been trained based on the program. In 2020, the program enrolled 25 postgraduate students from the Mekong countries. With the implementation of this program 6 textbooks have been published, more than 30 large-scale activities carried out , and 12 Practice Bases for International Students set up. The program has been reported by People's Daily, CCTV International Channel, China Water Resources News, etc..
