CSPDR Cooperation took the lead in undertaking the planning work (Planning Outline of Master Plan on Water Resources in Cambodia, Comprehensive Planning of Nam Ou and Nam Theun River Basin in Lao PDR, and Irrigation Development Planning of Major Grain Producing Area in Myanmar) as well as technical exchanges and training of the Lancang-Mekong Water Resources Cooperation Project.

By combining China’s experience in water governance with the actual development of the Mekong countries, the plannings proposed an overall scheme suitable for the national and water conditions of the Mekong countries and formed a relatively complete planning system of water resources and river basin management. Following the completion of projects, the level of water resources development, utilization and protection in the Mekong countries has been improved, and the ability to develop and utilize water resources and respond to water crises enhanced. The results have been highly praised by the authorities in the Mekong countries. Moreover, CSPDR Cooperation has successively hosted 9 training courses or seminars such as the Graduate Course for Integrated Management of River Basin and Water Resources, and trained nearly 200 people in total. While understanding the water demands of the Mekong countries, it has shared China's experiences and technologies in  water governance with its counterparts in the Mekong countries, which enhanced the understanding, consensus and mutual trust of the six countries.
