Video: Build Better Climate-Resilient WASH Programming
Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH ) are essential for the survival and development of children and their families. In the context of climate change, children are more vulnerable to life-threatening water scarcity and waterborne diseases. Worldwide, 2 billion people lack access to safely managed drinking water. In East Asia and Pacific Region climate change is affecting more than 600 million children every year. Children and families in rural areas, urban slums in low-income countries are the most vulnerable and the most affected.
This animation video produced by UNICEF Regional Office for East Asia and Pacific and partners highlights multiple challenges WASH sector is facing and multipartners’ efforts to build better climate-resilient WASH programming.
Under its new country programme cycle 2021-2025, UNICEF China is working with LMC Water Center and other partners to share knowledge, solutions and resources with other developing countries to support children and families in need globally, including efforts through South-South Cooperation to ensure every child, including adolescents, has access to safe and equitable Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) services and supplies, and lives in a safe climate and environment.
