Video on Drinking Water Safety Knowledge

According to the United Nations, access to safe drinking water is a matter of survival, health, equality, dignity and opportunity, and the Sustainable Development Goals, One of the main water targets of the SDGs (SDG 6.1) calls for "achieve universal and equitable access to safe and affordable drinking water for all by 2030". There is still a big gap in the realization of SDG6.1 in LMC countries, especially in local rural communities. In order to raise people's awareness of safe drinking water in Lancang-Mekong countries and enhance the ability of rural communities to independently manage water supply affairs, Video on Drinking Water Safety knowledge was produced.

Video on Drinking Water Safety knowledge is provided with subtitles in Chinese, English, Lao, Cambodian and Myanma. The cartoon image of "the Little Drop of Water An An" is used as the protagonist to popularize drinking water safety knowledge for rural community residents, and operation and maintenance knowledge of water supply projects for operation and to popularize management personnel. At the beginning of the video, the slogan of "Drinking water safety for everybody, Sustainable development shared by all" is put forward, and the community residents are effectively mobilized to contribute to sustainable development with colorful pictures and dubbing sound effects, so that the audience can grasp the concept of drinking water safety, and mobilize them to take the initiative to assume the sense of ownership of community water supply affairs.

The first chapter of the video introduces the concept of drinking water safety, the connotation of water quantity safety and water quality safety, and explains the key points of drinking water safety. The second chapter introduces the types of water sources, the types of water pollution and the methods of water source protection. The third chapter introduces the methods of water purification and disinfection, conventional water treatment technology and special water treatment. The fourth chapter introduces the improved drinking water source and the unimproved drinking water source, the centralized water supply system and the distributed water supply system. The fifth chapter introduces the key points and steps of the participatory management method, and explains the operation and maintenance knowledge of water source, pump house, water purification facilities and water distribution pipelines.
